Ocala, Florida – January 05, 2019 – FISCUS/KLUGGER RACING (FKR) is putting the finishing touches on an all-new, absolutely gorgeous ’67 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 drag radial car for driver Josh Klugger.

Started back in January of 2018, the project is now nearly completed. Coming together in just one short year, the fastback masterpiece was built and managed in-house by Skinny Kid Race Cars and features the expert handiwork of Bill Gilsbach.

The double frame rail, SFI 25.2 certified chassis showcases a 548 ci Hemi engine from Pro Line Racing that’s topped with a beautiful, custom fabricated all-billet intake manifold from Visner Engine Development. Rods and pistons from BME rotate around a Sonny Bryant crankshaft, and the Alan Johnson Performance Engineering outlaw heads house full Jesel valvetrains. Twin 106mm Garrett turbos provide plenty of boost to Klugger’s beauty with wastegates and blow off valves from TurboSmart, and fuel comes courtesy of a set of sixteen Billet Atomizer 700lb injectors. Lastly, a TH400 transmission from Proformance Racing Transmissions works in conjunction with an M&M shifter and ProTorque lock-up converter to transfer power to the ground through the Skinny Kid custom 10” full-floater rear end with a billet Carmack Engineering third member and Strange Engineering axles.

Controlling the powertrain is a state of the art FuelTech FT600 engine management system and a complete array of matching componentry, including ignition coils, boost controller, and data logger. Renowned tuner Jamie Miller (and the rest of the Red Hat Mafia) has been tapped for tuning duties of the ’67, and will surely have it turning laps on its Mickey Thompson 315 drag radial-wrapped Weld V-series beadlocked wheels in no time flat.

Finally, Alan Pennywitt sprayed the flawless Mopar PSC billet silver metallic hue over the Dynacorn reproduction ’67 Mustang fastback body which was supplied by National Parts Depot, then Glasslife Atlanta worked their magic with a high-end ceramic coating to protect the paint. Lexan windows from Optic Armor help shed pounds while keeping Klugger safe and carbon fiber panels from various sources were placed as needed, however, the car is still proudly steel-bodied and boasts a steel roof as well.

Now, the fastback is on its way to see suspension guru Mark Menscer at Menscer Motorsports for a complete chassis setup and configuration of its four-way adjustable AFCO by Menscer shocks and struts. After it receives a seal of approval there, it will travel to RK Racecraft and Homier Fabrications in Georgia, for finish work including fuel/oil plumbing and wiring, respectively. Klugger’s fastback will conclude its journey at FuelTech where it will spend some time on the dyno getting dialed in before testing begins in late January of 2019.

“After selling my blue coupe, I’ve been missing racing more than ever,” said Klugger, who recently parted ways with his record-setting Fox Body Mustang. “Owning a ’67 fastback has always been a dream of mine – I love the body lines and the personality of it – and I’m excited to get back out there with such an incredible new car.”

Klugger has picked Donald Long’s “Lights Out 10” race in February as the inaugural outing for his new ’67 Mustang, and then will continue his season with various other drag radial and outlaw 10.5 events including the Sweet Sixteen 2, Outlaw Street Car Reunion, YellowBullet Nationals, Orlando World Street Nationals, and more.

He will be joined this season by his trusted crew, including Steve Cooks, Johnny “Drama” Maguda, and Kevin “Flash” Fiscus. Based on his past performances and record-setting runs, Klugger’s new fastback will soon follow its brethren straight into the history books.
