Snap On Tools Driver and 2x NHRA World Champion Cruz Pedregon teams up with Mission 22
/Cruz Pedregon and his Nitro Funny Car team are joining the war against veteran suicide with the help of Mission 22 at the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Norwalk, OH.
"I was shocked to find out that we lose over 20 veterans to suicide every day. This is something that needs to be brought to the world's attention and I hope myself and my team can help get the message of Mission 22 out there" said 2x NHRA Funny Car World Champion, Cruz Pedregon. "We all love the sport of drag racing, but we do not get to do this without the men and women who put on military uniforms and fight for the freedoms that we have. So if there is a way that I can use my race car to promote a great cause I will." continued Pedregon.
Mission 22 was founded by Special Forces operators Magnus Johnson, and Mike Kissel and Infantryman Brad Hubbard. Because of their personal battles with PTSD and TBI, they have made it their mission to raise awareness, enlist support, and end veteran suicide in America.
Mission 22 has three major programs. Funding treatment for Post Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury and other issues veterans face, creating large-scale public memorials to honor veterans and bringing awareness to the issues veterans are facing today. Funding veterans to receive treatment for Post Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury and other issues they may be facing through our many partner organizations, large scale public art to honor veterans and creating social impact for the issues veterans are facing today. The last year our goals for awareness have not only been met but far surpassed what we could have even hoped for. The Mission 22 campaign has brought veteran issues to millions of people so that they too can make a difference. Awareness precedes change and without it we can not heal our nation. The monument construction has been completed. We honored 20 veterans who lost their lives here at home after serving our country abroad. Please see the Memorial page for photos and to follow progress of the monument as it travels around the United States. At the location the monument was built we also have a healing art shop where veterans can come and create metal art while they focusing on healing.
"At the end of the weekend I will take 4 pistons and 4 rods from our car, autograph them and put them on our EBay site to be auctioned off with all the proceeds going to mission 22. NHRA fans are the most passionate fans in motorsports and when there are people that need help, they are always there to lend a helping hand."
