Friday at Four Wide Spectacular

E3xtreme is here on the property called the Taj  Mahal of drag racing. This is the first time that NHRA decided to have Pro Mods on the property to run four wide. Unlike every other class, you have the opportunity to have a nitrous car, blower car, and a turbo car all stage and run at the same time. 

Michael Biehle Proline Powered Pro Mod Mustang

Speaking of pro mod, the chatter all of the place is the MPH we saw from the Oak Hills California man Michael Bowman in the '69 Chevelle. Michael , during Q1 this afternoon make everyone do a double take when we saw a 258.67 MPH show up on the board. Michael also ran a 5.821 in qualifying, which after 2 rounds puts him at #3 overall in pro mod. 

Sitting at number #1 in pro mod after two rounds of qualifying is the Jegs.com 2015 Corvette of Troy Coughlin. The Proline powered hemi tuned by Steve Petty cracked off a 5.770 and a speed of 254.95. Troy is followed closely by the new World Record holder Mike Castellana, and his 2017 blown Camaro at 5.787 at 249.16.  In third was Michael Bowman, followed by Houston winner Steve Matusek, and rounding out the top five is Sidnei Frigo in his 2016 Proline powered Corvette.  Khalid Al Balooshi in his Musi 903 powered 2017 Camaro is sitting on the bump at #16 with a 5.922 at 245.49. There are some heavy hitters not in this field though as well. Last weeks runner up Shane Molinari is sitting at #17 along with both Galot cars not in the field. Just so everyone knows, instead of having the typical 3 rounds of qualifying for pro mod, there is a fourth round tomorrow evening, and then E1 will be held on Sunday.  So there is still time for this field to get jumbled up more. 

Shawn Gann PSM

In Pro Stock Motorcycle, the alligator farmer Jerry Savoie took the number one spot after two rounds with a 6.824 at 196.24. He is followed up by the Gainesville champ Eddie Krawiec who cracked off a 6.835 at 196.93. Rounding out the top five are Chip Ellis, Joey Gladstone, and Hector Arana Jr. Melissa Surber is sitting on the bump spot right now with a 6.982 at 191.62. Former World Champion Angelle Sampey is in a group of six riders not currently qualified. 

Jeg Coughlin Pro  Stock

There were 17 cars that made a qualifying pass in Pro Stock today. And just like last week, Jeg Coughlin sits atop the qualifying list. His 6.578 at 210.24 just barely nudged out his teammate, the 2x World Champion Erica Enders, who laid down a 6.583 at 210.08. They are followed closely by Greg Anderson, Chris MaGaha, and Jason Line. Last weeks winner Bo Butner is sitting at #6. On the bump spot right now is John Gaydosh with his 2013 Camaro. His 6.853 at 203 puts him ahead of the lone car out, Wally Stroupe who mustard a 7.185 at 192.85.

Matt Hagan

Funny car had a solid 19 cars make passes today, and it was the JFR team grabbing the top three spots. Courtney leads them all with a 3.851 at 323.27. She's followed by Robert at 3.873 and John at 3.889. Founding out the top five are Matt Hagan and Tim Wilkerson. Dale Creasy sits on the bump with a 5.644 right now. Dave Richards, Cruz, and Jonnie Lindberg are the group not in the field right now. Cruz, would qualified in the top 5 and ran a career best last weekend in Houston, ran into some electrical issue during Q2 warm up. They pulled up to the box, but could not get the car fired. After taking it back to the pits, they were able to get the issues resolved and will be back out there seeking a spot in the field tomorrow during Q3 and 4. Watch for Cruz, Aaron, and the rest of the team to shake things up by tomorrow night. 

Antron Brown Matco Tools Top Fuel Dragster

Wrapping up our pro classes is of course Top Fuel Dragsters. We have 17 dragsters that made hits on Friday. Again, just like last week, the Tennessee boy Clay Millican is head of the class. His 3.716 at 325.77 has everyone covered at this point. Though he is followed by about the blink of an eye by Doug Kalitta, who dropped off a 3.718 at the blocks. Rounding out the top five are going to be Antron Brown, Steve Torrence, and Troy Coughlin Jr.  Smax Smith is sitting on the bump right now with an 8.043 with Luigi Novelli being the only dragster that can bump him out at this point.
