Burton scores Runner Up at Lights Out 15 in the dream ASAG Match Everyone Wanted to see.

(Glen Arm, MD) Don Burton claimed the Runner Up finish in the All Steel All Glass No Time category at Donald Long’s Lights Out 15 hosted at South Georgia Motorsports Park. Don rolled into SGMP with his car affectionally knows at Ol’ Silver on Wednesday and proceeded to show why he has been so successful in the world of small tire racing.

Paired with Eric Holiday (Easy E) on the laptop he ripped off pass after pass with no aborted runs. He was the buzz on social media sites with some declaring “that QA1 Mustang gonna be hard to beat”. For those that don’t know, Don is what we would call an “OG” when it comes to small tire racing. He has been around the block a mighty long time, whether it be in NMRA, on radial tires, or now running ASAG No Time stuff, Don is a “been there, done that” driver.

Don started the weekend on Saturday eliminations with a competition bye run as the last car down the track in the class. All eyes were on him and his run showed the reason why he was a threat to win.

Sunday morning’s 2nd round matchup of eliminations Don and fellow racer Lane Grice stole the show with a 3-minute-long staging duel. Ultimately Don rolled in first and the pair was off with Don coming out ahead. The word was out, the internet was on fire over the race and people just now realized why they call him “Burndown” (as a reference to the 5 plus minute staging duel he had with Jarrett Halfacre in NMRA back in 2005)

He moved on the round 3 were took on a tough team out of Texas, then bested a similar car/combo in round 4 as neither of his competitors made a full pass with limited traction. This all set up a final everyone wanted to see at Austin Pruitt and his team made it through their side of the ladder.

As if it was scripted the Final pass of the event was these two cars with a close side by side race Don was bested slightly and took home runner up honors.
