Mid-West Drag Racing Series Kicks off A Double Header in St. Louis

Middle of August in the midwest seems like a terrible time to go racing. Luckily the forecast for the MWDRS in St. Louis at World Wide Technology Raceway (Gateway), looks a lot better than the weather they had back at the beginning of July.

MWDRS rolled into WWTR at the beginning of July ready to rock and roll for the summertime. Mother Nature unfortunately had much different ideas for the racers and fans that weekend though. As I sit here typing this from the tower at WWTR I can still see some of the empty grandstand billboard spaces that were destroyed in those storms. Having lived in the midwest for 38 years and been at numerous tracks when storms rolled in, I think that last month those storms were the worst I’d seen while being at the track.

This weekend the forecast is calling for nothing but sun and decent temperatures. Mid 80’s for the next few days, mixed in with some sun will make for some great racing. MWDRS is lucky to have someone like Samuel Peterson from U.S. 131 here on the property this weekend handling all the track prep as well. Samuel was with MWDRS on their Thunder Valley stopped and the racers couldn’t stop raving about how great the track prep was for the event.

Below we have attached the tentative schedule and information regarding the event. This will be essentially a double race. Anything that wasn’t completed in July here at WWTR and then this weekends scheduled MWDRS event. If you are in the St. Louis area, head over to WWTR this weekend and watch some amazing racing!!
