Mid West Drag Racing Series ready for the heart of Texas

This weekend the newly renamed Mid West Drag Racing Series enters the heart of Texas with a stop in Ferris, TX at Xtreme Raceway Park (XRP). MWDRS is set to be chalked full of Pro Mods, Top Dragsters, Top Sportsman, X275, Junior Dragsters, and for the first time…Alcohol Funny Cars.

For the first time in the series history, they are set to welcome Alcohol Funny Cars to the mix. Jim and Annie Whiteley from J&A Service have stepped up to be the naming sponsor of the class, along with Annie piloting her own car as well. Ellen from Mid West Drag Racing stated “we are absolutely overwhelmed and excited to have Alcohol Funny Car as our newest class. The recognition that it not only brings to Alcohol Funny Car, but to the series as a whole is something that will help us grow leaps and bounds moving forward”.

Pro Mods are, and have always been the forefront and mainstay in the organization and it appears that it will always stay that way. These weekend it appears that there will be a full field, with some of the best cars in the country. Doesn’t matter if you have a screw blower, Procharger, turbos, or nitrous, you will find it on the property this weekend in Ferris. Galen, Clyde, and the rest of the crew have done an amazing job with the track surface given the Texas heat.

The small tire terrors of radial X275 are on the grounds with names like J.D. Campbell, Kenny Hubbard, and Michele Kato just to name a few. Given the fact that they will be running late into the night, I would expect that we will see some really great times, and hopefully some nice wheelstands.

Top Sportsman and Top Dragster are here and having to adjust to a new minimum ET. They went from a minimum E.T. of 4.99 to 4.49. While there was a lot of discussion coming into this event on how that would affect the classes, and most of the racers that I have spoken with a number of the racers who stated that they are happy with the change actually, and see it as a good move forward.

We at E3xtreme will bring you extensive photo galleries from the event, and keep you abreast of everything that is going on here as time warrants. Also, if you are looking to view the race live, you can log into Bangshift.com and they will be carrying the race to view free of charge.
