NHRA makes Pro Mod rule changes for parity

Well it appears that NHRA has decided to make some rule changes in Pro Mod before the second half of the season kicks off.

I received a message this evening (Monday night) that included some rule changes, but was not able to find it published on the NHRA site yet. I did speak to a Pro Mod driver that received the email and verified with me what I was reading though.

First off, it appears as though FuelTech will be the only official EFI system for all centrifugally superchargers entries. This will exclude Haltech, MoTec, and Holley at this time. I am not aware of whether this was currently the case, but based on the highlighted portion of the rules amendments, it would appear as though this is an addition to previous rules.

Secondly, a 4.57 rear gear for roots and turbo entries, while a Centrifugally supercharged entry must utilize a 4.56/4.57 rear gear.

Third, Automated pneumatic shifters are permitted on all transmission. When utilizing automated shifted a minimum time of 0.6 seconds must be used between shifts. Automated shifting may also utilize preset engine RPM functions in addition to this time requirement.

Lastly, at the bottom of the changes there is a note stating that the software change for centrifugal blowers will have a 9700 RPM rev limit. We shall see in a couple of weeks at Brainerd how this affects the Prochargers.

The biggest change I am told was the rev limit on the centrifugal blowers.
