Craig Sullivan Wraps Up An Amazing Debut Weekend With A Win

There are few times with drag racing that something becomes so talked about and anticipated, while in the end actually living up to all they hype. Well, that is exactly what happened to Craig Sullivan and his brand new Mercury Pro Mod this weekend.
As I am sure many of you have seen, Craig debuted his new car at the NMRA/NMCA race in Martin, Michigan over the weekend. Earlier, Mark Menscer of Menscer Motorsports had dropped photos on the internet that he took well over a month ago of Craig’s new car. I in fact saw the car about a month ago as well as it was heading south to get some work done on it.
Standing out in the Pro Mod division of drag racing is not something that is easily done anymore. Long gone it seems, are the days of being original. Now, every damn car is a new Camaro with a different wrap on it. If you know Craig, he certainly wasn’t going to take that road, and the fact is that he didn’t just pick something different, he went so far out of the damn box that the box isn’t even a thought.
The new Merc, which is a Jeffers built car is a show stopper to say the least. Featuring a blown Hemi combo, which is fitted with Fuel Tech to control a lot of this items on the car, along with the aforementioned Menscer Motorsports shocks/struts on all four corners. It is tuned by Joe Oplawski of Hyperaktive Performance Solutions.
When you debut a car, people don’t usually expect you to go out there and win the first event you enter. There are always new car blues, and things to work through before getting that first victory. Apparently no one told Craig that though. Craig went up to US 131 in Martin, MI to compete in NMCA Pro Mod, and by the end of the afternoon on Sunday found himself in the Winner Circle after defeating Randy Adler in the finals. Not to bad for a brand new car with very little run time, much less track time on it.
A huge congratulations to Craig, Joe, Mark, and everyone else involved with the project, along with this win! Look for the Merc to be a front runner during the remainder of the 2021 season and beyond. Also, just to let you all know, Craig will be a guest on the Scorched Podcast this year.
