Hot Rod Drag Week & Power Tour...More Casualties
In what is becoming a theme across the country due to people’s media-driven fear of getting sick, Hot Rod has pulled the plug on the world-famous Drag Week set to occur in September. Another with Drag Week, the famous Power Tour has also had the plug pulled for 2020.
The reality of this is that due to overwhelming pressure from outside sources, and pandering to people that don’t give two shits about our industry, we have now lost two huge revenue-making events this season. Events that bring money into the communities they participate in. This is just another example of how the media around the world continues to put the fear into people, without any care in the world for the consequences of their actions. Below are the statements from Hot Rod regarding both events.
After careful consideration and as a precaution, HOT ROD has decided not to move forward with the 2020 HOT ROD Drag Week, originally scheduled for September 13-18, 2020. The safety of Drag Week’s participants, sponsors and staff is our top priority. We are looking forward to returning in 2021 and continuing the premier proving ground for the world’s fastest street car . All registered participants will receive a notification email of the postponement and will receive a refund within 30 days. All currently registered HRDW competitors will also receive the chance to register early for the 2021 event.
After careful consideration and as a precaution, HOT ROD has decided not to move forward with the 2020 HOT ROD Power Tour, originally scheduled for August 23-29, 2020. We are looking forward to returning in June 2021 and continuing the tradition of the world’s largest traveling car show. All registered participants will receive a notification email of the postponement and will receive a refund within 30 days. All Current HRPT Platinum and Gold Club ticketholders will receive a chance to reserve these slots for 2021.
