Weekend Race Preview...

Now that we are already half way through the week we thought it would be a good time to provide all the drag racing fans with a preview of this coming up weekend. There are four events that we will preview for this weekend.

First off is going to be the race that we will be at covering for all of you and that is Zach Jones' Radial Fest race at Huntsville Dragway this Friday and Saturday. This race will feature a few of the heavy hitter radial classes. You will see Radial vs. The World, Limited Drag Radial, X275, along with a few index class. Cars like Fletcher Cox's beautiful blue Mustang along with NMCA star Daniel Pharris and his SN95 Mustang. Also planning on being there are names like Chris Daniel, Bubba Stanton, Jason Rueckert, Mark Woodruff, Mark Micke, Dustin Mewbourn, & many more. Doing track prep this weekend is the one and only Tyler Crossnoe with his special sauce for the radials. Don't forget that there is also Mean Street, along with 6.0 & 7.0 classes. So there really is something for everyone.

Next there is the NMRA race in it's return to Maple Grove, PA after a long absence. From what we have heard, some of the heavyweight X275 contenders will be there still fighting to win that elusive NMRA World Championship. Phil Hines, Joel Greathouse, & Charles Hull will be three of the ones to watch. In huge news, Joe Caldwell is scheduled to be there to debut the resurrected Racin' Jason Turbo Mustang this weekend as well. Not to leave out anyone else, NMRA has a class for every Mustang. Classes like Renegade & Coyote Modified are the power adder classes along with Street Outlaw. Then you get to see some of the baddest small block Ford naturally aspirated cars in Pure Street & Factory Stock. Some of the closest racing you will see in all of heads up drag racing will be found when the Coyote Stock cars pull into the box. This is a must see class for every Mustang fan! There are also index style classes, along with a wonderful True Street Cruise. Lastly, make your way over to the car show to see some of the most beautiful Fords on the East Coast.

If you are into some amazing small tire no time racing, then Carolina Dragway is going to be the place to be on Friday & Saturday. This is some amazing heads up 1/8th mile racing. Mike Hill (Former 10.5 and Pro Mod Star) and owner of Hitman Productions puts on this race. This is a N/T (No Time) race, so you won't see their times, but I assure you it's worth watching every second! If you can remember a time when drag racing had awesome characters & cool car names, then a Mike Hill event is the one you should be at. There are four separate classes competing this weekend there, including a jaw dropping Chevy G-Body & Nova class sure to get you outta the seat and ask yourself "did that really just happen?".

Last, yet certainly not least is the NHRA Spring Nationals in Baytown, TX. This is the second stop on the NHRA tour that will feature the Real Pro Mod Association (RPM) Pro Mods along with all the other usual suspects. The questions going into this race are many. Will we see the KB Racing Team of Jason Line, Greg Anderson, & Bo Butner continue to dominate, or will this be the weekend that Erica Enders puts it all together breaks the KB streak? Remember this a track that Erica knows better than almost anyone as it's her home track and she was the winner of this event last season. Can Britney Force keep on a roll and get her third win this season, or is someone like Clay Millican, former IHRA champion going to finally break through and grab his first victory in an NHRA Fuel Car? In Funny Car, after last weekend's Four Wide race in Charlotte, is it safe to say the Cruz Pedregon is got it all put together enough to grab his first win of the season, or will we see Tim Wilkerson, John Force, or maybe Jack Beckman grab the victory on Sunday? And in Pro Mod we won't have a repeat of last year, as Don Walsh Jr. will not be in attendance. We really have a wide open field this race. Could it be the underdog Turbo Mustang of Kevin Fiscus from FKR Racing or might we see "Tricky" Rickie Smith dominate in his IDG Sponsored Camaro? Don't rest on some of the other heavy hitters in the class like Jeff Naiser from Texas, Former Class Champions Von Smith & Khalid Albalooshi, Newcomer & former Pro Stock Standout Jonathan Gray, Dan Stevenson in his BRAND NEW Turbo combination, along with top contenders Troy Coughlin, Danny Rowe, Steve Matusek, Bill Glidden, Mike Janis, Chip King and many more.
